Understanding the Download Test
This test allows you to verify how easily an executable file can be downloaded to your computer. This is not a ClickFix scenario but is related, as ClickFix attacks are often combined with downloadable files.
When you click the download, an executable file will be placed in your Downloads folder (this test is currently only available for Windows computers). A well-protected computer should not permit this download. By double-clicking the downloaded file, you can test whether the program also launches.
If it launches, this indicates that you are insufficiently protected for two reasons. First, you should not be able to execute a program file from the Downloads, Temp, or similar directories. Second, our test executable is not digitally signed, and your system should block such files in all directories on your computer.
You may receive 0, 1, or 2 warnings. Receiving no warnings (0) indicates that you are not adequately protected. Warnings are relevant for this type of file and may help protect you against malicious software.
This download is completely harmless. The test is designed to demonstrate what an attacker could do; it opens a camera preview and a webpage. No data is transmitted from your computer. Once you close the screens (please complete the poll first) and delete the file from your Downloads folder, it will be permanently removed from your computer.
